The reality is that there are homes that require massive efforts of rebuilding in order to make them safe and warm. For many living in 5th-wheel vehicles, some shelters are beyond the point of repair. Purchasing replacement RVs is just not ideal, as we are unsure of their condition and those structures are not ideal for long-term living. We know that we are unable to move these families out of these parks, so we’ve had to make the decision to walk away. Until now…
While we cannot build a new home without having a plot of land available, Tiny Homes on trailers provide us with the ideal solution for homeowners living in 5th-wheel mobile home parks. These are families that are working and while not making much, are self-sufficient. The major issue they face is they do not have enough income to purchase a new shelter. These homes can be modified for residents that have special needs such as wheelchairs or other reduced mobility constraints. In addition, we have an in-depth checklist of accessibility improvements that we provide to residents of mobile home parks every day. Whether we choose to follow pre-designed plans, or work with our long-time community partners at American Institute of Architects (AIA), we know that the product we send into the community will last for many, many years to come.
This Tiny House build will have two outcomes. The first goal is to build a Tiny House for a family on the verge of homelessness. Our second goal is to leverage what we have learned from this Tiny House build so that it may serve as a proof-of-concept for future Tiny Home builds. Not only will future Tiny Homes be new shelters for homeowners on the verge of homelessness, but we plan to build these as a fundraising platform. With the help of our massive skilled volunteer workforce, we can build these at a much lower cost than other Tiny House builders. For families just starting out, or finding themselves caring for an aging adult, these Tiny Homes on trailers can be parked on any private property. The Tiny House movement is growing fast and we would like to build ourselves into the fabric of this community. With this investment of funds, the community impact would be far reaching and we thank you for your consideration.
